When there's an image/video in the background and the transparent header is in the foreground, it would be helpful to create contrast so the logo/menu is easier to see. It's not always desirable to have a solid color which obscures the background. Example: a linear gradient (top to bottom), rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.8) to transparent.
