Image Option for Recent Post Footer Widget
I’d like to have small thumbnail images of my recent blog posts next to the post titles in the recent post footer widget. I think it would look a lot nicer in the footer to have the option!

I just had a look at the default WordPress post widget and it seems like it can’t be extended/filtered for us to add more options to it.
Therefore, I’d suggest to use a plugin like this instead – https://de.wordpress.org/plugins/recent-posts-widget-with-thumbnails/.
